Tumaco

(to͞omä`kō), city (1993 pop. 58,436), SW Colombia, a port on the Pacific Ocean. It is located on a small island just off the coast and has a very hot climate. Tumaco is a lumbering and mining center. Coffee, cacao, tobacco, vegetables, and other products of the interior are exported.

a city in southwestern Colombia, in Nariño Department. Population, 80,300 (1968). Tumaco is a port on the Pacific Ocean from which coffee, cacao, tobacco, metals, and timber are exported. The city has a refinery that processes crude oil piped from the Orito oil field in Putumayo Department.
