(trans″tim-pan′ik) [ trans- + tympanic] A treatment for diseases of the inner ear in which a hole is bored through the tympanic membrane, and concentrated medications are instilled into the middle ear. The medications are absorbed into the inner ear through the round window (and possibly surrounding structures).
