Qavamoddin of Shiraz

Date of birth unknown; died 1440. Persian architect.

Qavamoddin introduced the cupola resting on four strong intersecting arches into Persian architecture. His works include the Mosque of Gowhar Shad in Meshed (1405–18), the Mosalla ensemble (1417–38), and Mausoleum of Abdullah Ansari (1425–1428/29) near Herat, and the madrasa (Islamic school) in Khargird (1440).
