Rheinhausen
(rīn`hou'zən), former town, North Rhine–Westphalia, NW Germany, a port on the Rhine River; chartered 1934. Manufactures include metal products, machinery, textiles, mining and chemical equipment, cement goods, beer, and liquor. In 1975 it was incorporated into the city of DuisburgDuisburg, city (1994 pop. 536,800), North Rhine–Westphalia, W Germany, at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. Located in the Ruhr district, it is the largest inland port in the world and a center for iron and steel production.

Rheinhausen
a city in the Federal Republic of Germany, in the Land of Nordrhein-Westfalen, on the Rhine River. Linked by a bridge with the city of Duisburg. Population, 68,300 (1972). Rheinhausen is a river port, with a freight turnover of more than 4 million tons (1972), and a railroad junction. The city expanded in connection with the construction of a metallurgical plant at the end of the 19th century. Rheinhausen has a metallurgical industry and produces steel structural members and machinery. It also has a textile industry. Coal is mined nearby.
