Telegraph Channel

Telegraph Channel

the aggregate of technical equipment used to transmit telegraph signals from a transmitter to a receiver. Telegraph channels are classified as low-level (within a city, raion, or oblast) and trunk channels (between oblasts or republics). The speed of transmission through telegraph channels ranges from 50 to 200 bauds. Telegraph channels include communications lines and multiplexing equipment; the latter is usually part of a voice-frequency telegraph system.
