[TA] intrinsic muscle of larynx; a band of muscular fibers passing between the two arytenoid cartilages posteriorly; action, narrows the intercartilaginous portion of the rima glottidis; nerve supply, recurrent laryngeal. Synonym(s): musculus arytenoideus transversus [TA], arytenoideus
