Sim Sa-Jong

Sim Sa-jong was a member of the Tohwaso, which served as an academy of painting in Seoul. He worked in india ink. His works, which belong to the “birds-and-flowers” genre, show the influence of Chinese art. Notable examples include Flowers, Butterfly, and Grasshopper (1763, Art Gallery, Pyonyang), Tiger (National Museum, Seoul), River at Night (National Museum, Seoul), and Sky Dweller With a Toad and Rain (both in a private collection, Seoul).
