Telegraph Traffic

the total number of telegrams transmitted and received during a given period of time (hour, day, month) on a telegraph line, by a telegraph office, or by the whole telegraph network. Maximum daily traffic occurs during the afternoon and early evening, between 12 noon—2 P.M. and 6–8 P.M. Minimum daily traffic is at night and in the early morning, between 11 P.M. and 7–8 A.M. the next day. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday have the least traffic, with Sunday traffic being approximately one-half of the average daily traffic for the whole week. Months with above-average traffic include April, July, August, November, and December.
