(trans-vĕr'sŭs nū'kē mŭs'ĕl) An occasional muscle passing between the tendons of the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid, possibly a fasciculus of the posterior auricular muscle.
Synonym(s): musculus transversus nuchae [TA] , transverse muscle of nape.
