plus strand[′pləs ‚strand] (cell and molecular biology) A parental ribonucleic acid (RNA) strand in RNA bacteriophages that is used as a template for a complementary RNA strand (minus strand) produced with the formation of a double-stranded (double-helix) RNA. plus strand
