Sine galvanometer

a galvanometer in which the sine, cosine, or tangent respectively, of the angle through which the needle is deflected, is proportional to the strength of the current passed through the instrument.

sine galvanometer

[′sīn ‚gal·və′näm·əd·ər] (engineering) A type of magnetometer in which a small magnet is suspended in the center of a pair of Helmholtz coils, and the rest position of the magnet is measured when various known currents are sent through the coils.
