a city in the extreme western part of the Mongolian People’s Republic, located to the south of the lake Ubsa Nor. Administrative center of the aimak of Ubsa Nor. Population, 9,700 (1963). Ulangom, a transportation junction, has enterprises of the food-processing industry. The population engages in the production of handicrafts. The city was formerly the site of a Lamaist monastery.
