(25 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 18 to 22 lb (8.2–10.0 kg). Its dense, hard, wiry coat is about 2 in. (5 cm) long and may be steel gray, brindle, grizzle, black, sandy, or wheaten in color. A very strong dog for its size, the scottie was originally used to hunt small game, particularly badgers.
