quadriceps test

quadriceps test

An obsolete term for a test of muscular weakness once regarded as having diagnostic value in hypothyroidism, which is based on a subject’s ability to maintain the leg in extension when seated—i.e., at a right angle to the body—for at least one minute; the test is nonspecific and is positive in corticosteroid myopathy, myasthenia gravis and other myopathies.
