a term used to refer to the Streptococcus intermedius group, which contains three distinct streptococcal species including Streptococcus intermedius, Streptococcus constellatus, and Streptococcus anginosus. These bacteria are found in the human oral cavity and have been associated with a variety of infections including bacteremia; endocarditis; and CNS, oral, and thoracic infections.
