Richard Korf

(person)A Professor of computer science at the University ofCalifornia, Los Angeles. Richard Korf received his B.S. fromMIT in 1977, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science fromCarnegie-Mellon University in 1980 and 1983. From 1983 to1985 he served as Herbert M. Singer Assistant Professor ofComputer Science at Columbia University.

Dr. Korf studies problem-solving, heuristic search andplanning in artificial intelligence. He wrote "Learningto Solve Problems by Searching for Macro-Operators" (Pitman,1985). He serves on the editorial boards of ArtificialIntelligence, and the Journal of Applied Intelligence.Dr. Korf is the recipient of several awards and is a Fellow ofthe American Association for Artificial Intelligence.
