Daley, Victor

 

(real name of Creeve Roe). Born Sept. 5, 1858, in Navan, Ireland; died Dec. 29, 1905, in Waitara, near Sydney. Australian romantic poet.

Daley lived in Australia from 1878. He was a clerk and gold prospector; later he became a journalist. His literary career is connected with the Bulletin and Tocsin, democratic journals in which he published his satirical and lyrical-philosophical poems, sonnets, and ballads.

He wrote the verse collections At Dawn and Dusk (1898). and Wine and Roses (published in 1911).
