Rickettsia australis

Rick·ett·si·a aus·tra·lis

a bacterial species causing a spotted fever, North Queensland tick typhus, clinically and serologically similar to the disease caused by the agent of rickettsialpox; Ixodes holocyclus and I. tasmani are probable vectors. Small marsupials are suspected reservoirs of this agent, which is found over much of coastal Queensland in Australia, especially in secondary scrub and savannah.
