a city in eastern Cuba located in Oriente Province on the Central Highway. Population, 28,000 (1966). Victoria de las Tunas is connected by rail with the city of Camaguey as well as the ports of Santiago and Puerto Manati. It is the trading center for a major agricultural region (primarily sugarcane plantations, livestock raising, and cultivation of the fodder grass pangola, sunflowers, and cotton). The city also has a food-processing industry.
