Teliia, Georgii Petrovich
Born Aug. 1 (13), 1880, in the village of Chagani, in what is now Samtredia Raion, Georgian SSR; died Mar. 19 (Apr. 1), 1907, in Sukhumi. A participant in the Russian revolutionary movement. A Social Democrat from 1898; later a Bolshevik.
The son of a peasant, Teliia began working in Tbilisi’s railroad shops in 1896. From 1901 he was a member of the Tbilisi committee of the RSDLP. In 1903 he was arrested and imprisoned. He escaped in 1905 and subsequently conducted party work in Baku and Tbilisi and helped organize the underground press. Teliia was a delegate to the First Conference of the RSDLP, held at Tammerfors in 1905.
