Vance, Harold (Sines)

(1890–1959) automobile executive, government official; born in Port Huron, Mich. He ended his 45-year career at the Everitt-Metzger-Flanders Company and its successor, Studebaker Corporation, which he led out of receivership (1933–35), then becoming chairman until its 1954 merger with Packard. On the Atomic Energy Commission (1955–59), he promoted the industrial use of nuclear energy.
