Location:Southern Illinois, between the communities of Harrisburg in Saline County and Karnak in Pulaski County.
Facilities:Day-use trail with drinking water, privy toilets, and parking at access areas.
Activities:Hiking, bicycling.
Special Features:Located in southern Illinois, the trail offers access and facilities in communities of Harrisburg, Carrier Mills, Stonefort, New Burnside, Tunnel Hill, Vienna, and Karnak. It passes over 21 trestles, through a 543-foot tunnel, and through the Shawnee National Forest (see entry in national forests section). Interpretive signs along the route point out abandoned coal mines, a sandstone quarry, and other sites of interest.
