Matrosov, Vladimir Mefod’evich

 

Born May 8, 1932, in the village of Shipunovo, Altai Krai. Soviet specialist in theoretical mechanics and applied mathematics. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1974.

Matrosov graduated from the Kazan Aviation Institute in 1956. He taught at the institute until 1975, becoming a professor in 1970. In 1975 he joined the faculty at the University of Irkutsk and was appointed deputy director of the Siberian Power Engineering Institute of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Matrosov’s main works deal with the dynamics of nonlinear systems and the stability of motion. He devised a method of Liapunov vector functions in the analysis of the dynamic properties of integrated systems. He also developed a control theory for engineering systems.
