Screw Tie-Down

 

(Russian, shtopor), a coiled rod made of a thick, usually steel wire, 10–20 mm in diameter, with a ring attached to the end. When screwed into the ground, a tree, or ice, it serves for tying down airplanes, gliders, and helicopters, for mooring small ships, and for anchoring tents.
