Telomorphosis

in biology, an evolutionary change leading to narrow, or terminal, specialization; the most common form of such change. An example of telomorphosis is the adaptation of an organism to a single type or a few types of food, as in the case of insectivorous plants, bloodsucking bats, and hagfishes. Another example of telomorphosis is an organism’s ability to exist only under certain environmental conditions, as in the case of lungfish, chameleons, and moles.
