Warm-Air Heating of Seeds

one of the methods of preparing seeds for sowing; the process consists in the action of warm atmospheric or artificially heated air (in the case of ventilation) on the seeds. Warm-air heating of seeds increases the porosity and air permeability of the seed cases and strengthens the fermenting processes, thus facilitating increased energy of growth and seed germinating power. During warm and dry spring days the windows and doors of granaries and other storehouses are opened, and the seeds are spread out in a thin layer and are periodically turned over or are passed through a seed-cleaning machine. On sunny days seeds are spread out in open areas on tarpaulins or planks and are stirred around with rakes.
