Warnow

a river in the northern German Democratic Re- public. Length, 130 km; basin area, 3,200 sq km. The War- now rises on the Mecklenburg lake plateau and passes through a number of lakes as it flows in a winding valley. Near Rostock it forms a lakelike broadening which opens out into Mecklenburg Bay on the Baltic Sea near Warnemünde. The Warnow is navigable as far as Bützow and accessible to ocean-going vessels as far as Rostock.
