Pros
Wasabi inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces the risks of heart attacks and strokes. It has both antibacterial, antiinflammatory and carcinoprotective effects, the latter of which effects are linked to wasabi’s high concentration of isothiocyanate.
Cons
Ingestion of a large amount of wasabi may lead to acute myocardial infarction-like symptoms (popularly termed “sushi syncope”), nausea and diarrhoea.
