water therapy

water therapy

A general term for the therapeutic use of water, either “special” or tap water, either externally or internally. External therapeutic water (aquatic hydrotherapy; colloquially, “taking the waters”) most commonly occurs at a health spa, which allegedly has waters with some therapeutic value (e.g., thermal or mineral springs). Internal ingestion of allegedly therapeutic waters is of uncertain efficacy, as such waters have no trace minerals or elements that are not readily available in the usual diet.
