Location:7 miles east of I-35 on Highway 92, then north 1 mile on Highway RA in Clay County.
Facilities:23 basic campsites, 75 electric campsites, showers, special use area,picnic sites, picnic shelter, hiking trails, paved bicycle trail,equestrian trails, beach, bathhouse, boat ramp, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, lake fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, interpretive programs, tours.
Special Features:Site is dedicated to interpreting the 19th century landholdings ofWaltus Locket Watkins and to providing a variety of outdoor recreationoptions. Watkins' house and outbuildings, the woolen factory andgristmill, and the nearby church and schoolhouse have been restored tocreate an 1870s farm, and a living history program is offered duringthe summer months. The mill is a National Historic Landmark and is theonly 19th century American woolen mill with its original machinery stillintact. The park is adjacent to the plantation buildings and features a100-acre lake and other recreational facilities.
