Special Features:"Waubay" is the Sioux word meaning "a nesting place for birds." More than 245 species of birds call the refuge home.
Habitats: 4,650 acres of lakes, grasslands, marshlands, and woodlands.
Access: Open during daylight hours. Visitor center hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Wild life: Canada geese, snow geese, gadwalls, redheads, shovelers, Baltimore orioles, orchard orioles, bats, deer, fox squirrels, cottontail rabbits, and gophers.
