 wave trap[′wāv ‚trap]  (civil engineering) A device used to reduce the size of waves from sea or swell entering a harbor before they penetrate as far as the quayage; usually in the form of diverging breakwaters, or small projecting breakwaters situated close within the entrance.   (electronics) A resonant circuit connected to the antenna system of a receiver to suppress signals at a particular frequency, such as that of a powerful local station that is interfering with reception of other stations.
