Wayne, June

(1918– ) lithographer; born in Chicago, Ill. Self-taught, she was an industrial designer and radio writer (1939–43), worked in France (1957–59), and returned to New York City. She strongly influenced the resurgence of lithography in the 1960s and is known for her illustrations for John Donne, Songs and Sonnets (1958). She was the founder of the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles, Calif. (1960–70), later organized as the Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque (1970).
