Weber, Christian Friedrich

Hannoverian resident in Russia from 1714 to 1719; author of Transformed Russia(vols. 1-3, 1721-40), published in Germany. Weber’s work contains a great deal of material about Russian domestic and foreign policy, mainly about the transformations in the economy, culture, and state structure. The first volume is of the greatest interest, since it was compiled on the basis of personal observations. The second and third volumes were compiled mainly on the basis of widely known Russian sources.
