Wei River

a river in eastern China approximately 600 km long. It has its sources in the T’aihang Mountains and mainly flows in the northern part of the Great Chinese Plain. After its confluence with the Yungting River it becomes the Hai River, which flows into the Pohaiwan Gulf of the Yellow Sea. The lower reaches of the Wei River (from the city of Linch’ing) enter the system of the Grand Canal. The climate is mon-soon, and the river is used for irrigation and navigation. The cities of Hsinhsiang and T’ienchin are on the Wei River.

It begins in the Lunghsi Mountains and mainly flows along the longitudinal hollow between the Pei Mountains and the Ch’inling range. The climate is monsoon, and the river is used for irrigation. The cities of Lunghsi, Kanku, T’ienshui, Paochi, and Hsienyang are located on the Wei River.
