Special Features:This 40-room mansion was the home of Benning Wentworth, New Hampshire'sfirst royal governor, who served from 1741-1767. The house contains thecouncil chamber where the state's first provincial government conductedits affairs in the pre-Revolutionary War period. The mansion is one ofthe most outstanding homes still remaining from the colonial era and isdesignated a National Historic Landmark.
