Werner Seelenbinder


Seelenbinder, Werner

 

Born Aug. 2, 1904, in Stettin; died Oct. 24, 1944, in Brandenburg. Well-known German athlete. Activist in the German Resistance Movement against fascism. Member of the Communist Party of Germany from 1928.

After the establishment of a fascist dictatorship, Seelen-binder became active in the underground struggle against Hitler’s forces. During World War II (1939–45) he joined an antifascist group headed by R. Uhrig. In February 1942, Seelenbinder was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to a concentration camp, where he was executed.
