West Pakistan

A former region of Pakistan (after 1947) separated by about 1,600 km (1,000 mi) from East Pakistan, formerly East Bengal. In 1971 East Pakistan declared its independence as Bangladesh, and West Pakistan became the sole territory governed by Pakistan.
