Location:12 miles south of State College, in the center of the state.
Facilities:Picnic areas, picnic pavilions, snack bar, hiking trails, snowmobile trails, swimming beach, boat launch, boat mooring, game court.
Activities:Boating (electric motors only), canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, hunting, ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Park area was purchased from the Iroquois Confederation in 1754. It eventually became part of the Monroe Iron Works; charcoal was produced for use in the iron furnace, and there is some evidence of iron ore mining. It was purchased in 1868 by Osgood Whipple, who built a dam and sawmill and for whom the park is named.
