whiteheart malleable iron

[′wīt‚härt ′mal·yə·bəl ′ī·ərn] (metallurgy) White cast iron malleableized and decarburized by heat treatment in an oxidizing material at 900°C for 100-150 hours; decarburization produces a light-colored fracture, in contrast to blackheart malleable iron, which is not decarburized. Also known as blackheart malleable iron.
