whole foods diet

Fringe nutrition
A nutritional plan formulated in the 1930s by VG Rocine, a Norwegian-American homeopath, and B Jensen, an American chiropractor, which was based on the belief that whole, pure and natural foods are needed to maintain health and fight disease.
Jensen recommended a diet that was 60% vegetables, 20% fruits, 10% starch and 10% protein; of the foods consumed, 60% should be raw and 40% cooked. The above formula results in an alkaline:acid ratio of 4:1. While meat is not forbidden, it should be of high quality in the form of wild game (which has less fat) and organically-grown livestock; foods that are fired, salted or smoked should be avoided, as should foods that are rancid or have excess sugar.
