Williams, Margery (Winifred)

(1881–1944) writer; born in London, England. She came to America in 1890, attended schools in Pennsylvania, married, spent many years traveling between England, Paris, and Italy, and then settled in New York City (1921). She wrote many books for adults (using her married name, Margery Bianco) and children, notably The Velveteen Rabbit; or How Toys Become Real (1922), and Poor Cecco (1925).
