Window Raiser
Window Raiser
a device to raise and lower door windows in passenger cars and the cabins of trucks. Window raisers with a cable drive are used in passenger automobiles; those used in truck cabins are actuated by levers. A brake mechanism is mounted in a drum on the actuating shaft to prevent the window from lowering by itself. The mechanism makes it possible to fix the window pane at various heights; it is activated by a lever on the inner door panel or, less often, by an electric switch, usually mounted on the dashboard.
