wing zyglo

A form of non-destructive inspection of parts subject to vibration. The concerned part is soaked in a fluorescent penetrant for an appropriate length of time and then rinsed. All penetrant is cleaned off the surface. The part is then placed into a fixture that vibrates and is observed under an ultraviolet light. If the vibration opens up a crack that has accepted some of the penetrant, the crack will show up as a glow in black light. Also called a blink zyglo
