Witold Hensel


Hensel, Witold

 

Born Mar. 29, 1917, in PoznaD. Polish archaeologist specializing in prehistoric and Slavic archaeology. Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Director of the Institute of the History of Material Culture (from 1955).

Hensel conducted excavations at Biskupin and other archaeological sites in Poland, France, and Algeria. He has founded and served as editor of a number of archaeological publications.
