Wladislas II
Wladislas II
(in Bohemian, Ladislas or Vladislav Jagiellonsky II). Born Mar. 1, 1456; died Mar. 13, 1516. King of Bohemia beginning in 1471 and of Hungary beginning in 1490. Wladislas was the son of the Polish king Casimir IV. During his reign the royal power in Bohemia fell into a decline. The so-called Code of Law of Wladislas (1500) strengthened the privileges of the Czech nobility at the expense of the cities. In Hungary, Wladislas was also compelled to make a number of concessions to the feudal lords.
