Woodruff, Maurice

Woodruff, Maurice (d. 1973)

(religion, spiritualism, and occult)

Maurice Woodruff was a psychic who frequently appeared on television making predictions. He was one of Peter Sellers’ favorite psychics and predicted that the next woman Sellers would marry, after Anne Hayes, would have the initials B.E. Sellers met and fell in love with Swedish starlet Britt Ekland, whom he met in the lobby of the Dorchester Hotel, London, where he had gone to live after his divorce from Hayes.

Woodruff’s syndicated newspaper column reached a circulation of nearly fifty million, and he received 5,000 letters per week from people looking for advice. Some of his predictions were extremely accurate, such as the death of President John F. Kennedy and the ending of the Viet Nam war. He died of a heart attack in 1973, in Singapore.
