Woolson, Abba Louise

Woolson, Abba Louise (b. Goold)

(1838–1921) fashion reformer; born in Windham, Maine. She was a teacher and author of essays on women and literature. She was an early and effective critic of women's fashions; in her Dress-Reform (1874) she decried the discomfort and unhealthiness of women's clothing and offered examples of less constricting designs.
