Named for the Russian explorer Baron Ferdinand von Wrangel, the mountains comprise a portion of the Wrangell–St. Elias National Park and PreserveWrangell–Saint Elias National Park and Preserve,at the convergence of the Chugach, Wrangell, and St. Elias mts., SW Alaska.
