Yankee bonds Yankee bondsForeign bonds denominated in U.S. dollars and issued in the United States by foreign banks and corporations. These bonds are usually registered with the SEC. Such as, bonds issued by originators with roots in Japan are called Samurai bonds.Yankee BondA foreign bond denominated in U.S. dollars and traded in the United States. In order to raise capital from American investors, a non-American company may choose to sell a bond in the United States. Most of the time, the issuers must register Yankee bonds with the SEC.
